Sikkim agri & animal husbandry sector gets special emphasis at BIOFACH meet

Guwahati: The Sikkim government's policies were emphasized during Biofach 2022, which took place on July 26 in Nuremberg, Germany.

The largest trade show for organic foods is called BIOFACH, and it is held in Nuremberg.

The delegation from Sikkim to the Biofach opening session was led by Lok Nath Sharma, Minister for Agriculture, Horticulture, and Animal Husbandry Department.

The current policies of the Government of Sikkim, such as the "Development through credit" and "Production incentive scheme" for the agricultural and animal husbandry sector, were applauded during the debate, according to a statement from the Sikkim government.

In addition to Dr. S. Anbalagan, CEO of the Sikkim Organic Farming Development Agency (SOFDA), Minister Sharma is accompanied by Shri Rinzing C. Bhutia, Secretary of Agriculture, senior members of the Department of Agriculture SIMFED, SSOCA, and Kisan Morcha President.

The delegation attended the "Organic Hero" presentation, which honoured the Tanzanian and Danish recipients of the current "One World Award."

Minister Lok Nath Sharma took part in the panel discussion titled "Organic agriculture in the global South: pledges and action from ministerial viewpoint," which also included participation from ministers from Tanzania, Germany, and Argentina.

The Sikkim delegation toured the booths and had a firsthand look at all the innovations and trends, as well as the full variety of exhibitors.

The exhibition, according to the statement, offered a chance to individually connect with representatives from other industries.

In order to fully grasp the current trend and potential in the organic sector, the delegation also had comprehensive discussions with several industry representatives and small company owners.
