Guwahati: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, announced on Thursday that the Himalayan state will serve as the host location for two G20 gatherings. At a gathering in West Sikkim, he announced that Sikkim and Assam will each be requested to host two activities for the next G20 conference in India.

On September 9 and 10, 2023, New Delhi will host the next G20 Leaders' Summit, which will be attended by heads of state or government.

Tamang claimed that Sikkim has been given a "significant chance" to present the world with its rich cultural heritage by holding the G20 activities there. He expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for choosing the state as one of the G20 summit locations.

"I really appreciate the Prime Minister's confidence in our state to host international events," he remarked.

For the two G20 events that will be conducted in Sikkim, Tamang stated his administration will do all in its power to live up to the expectations of the Center.

Tamang was invited earlier this week to a conference conducted in the national capital to collect ideas for the G20 summit that would take place in India next year. The meeting was called by the Centre.
