Space centre NESAC to monitor progress of centrally sponsored projects in NE

Guwahati: The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) has join hands with the North Eastern Space Application Centre (NESAC) for monitoring the physical progress of the various projects supported by the ministry.

In order to periodically review the project implementation, 562 projects out of 588 identified projects have geo-tagged through satellite images and mobile applications.

As on December, 2022, 145 projects amounting to Rs 3392.99 crore have been sanctioned in various sectors under North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS).

Moreover, , North East Cane and Bamboo Development Council (NECBDC) has been sanctioned 14 projects worth Rs.90.86 crore in Bamboo Sector during Financial years 2015-16 to 2021-22.

NESAC was established as a joint initiative of Department of space (DOS) and the North Eastern Council (NEC) and came into being on September 5, 2000.

NESAC helps in augmenting the developmental process in the region by providing the advanced space technology support.

It may be mentioned here that even as new projects keep getting announced, the Centre has turned the spotlight on projects falling behind for decades and ensure their completion by the end of this financial year 2023.

The move is aimed at fast tracking all the developmental and infrastructure projects in the region which falling behind its completion date.
