Tablet market in India logs 68% YoY growth

Guwahati: India’s tablet market grew 68% year-on-year (YoY), while 4G tablets recorded a sequential growth of 74% YoY, claims new insights from CMR’s Tablet PC Market Report Review for Q1 2022, released today.

Tablets with 8-inch displays accounted for 26% of total shipments in India. Tablets with 10-inch or larger screens, on the other hand, accounted for 61% of shipments.

In Q1 2022, Lenovo (36 percent), Apple (22 percent), and Samsung (22 percent) held the top three positions on the tablet leaderboard, followed by Realme and Lava.

Lenovo retained its lead in the area, owing mostly to its commercial and retail businesses. Lenovo Tab M8 (HD) (Wi-Fi+4G) 2GB 32GB series earned a 32% market share, mainly in the Value for Money (INR 7,000-INR 25,000) sector. Lenovo shipments increased by 48 percent year on year in Q1 2022. Apple retained its second-place position in the first quarter of 2022, with a 22 percent market share. The Apple iPad 9 (Wi-Fi) led the tablet market with a 45 percent market share, followed by the iPad Pro 2021 (Wi-Fi) with an 11 percent share. In Q1 2022, Apple shipments increased by 31% year on year.

Samsung was ranked third on the market leaderboard, with a 22% market share. In Q1 2022, Samsung released 5G and 4G Tablets, including the Galaxy Tab A8 WiFi + LTE, Galaxy Tab S8 WiFi + 5G, Galaxy Tab S8 Plus WiFi + 5G, and Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra WiFi + 5G. In Q1 2022, Samsung shipments increased by 81% year on year.
