Tata Motors, India's largest manufacturer, declared a net loss of Rs 1,032.84 crore for the quarter ending March 31, 2022, on Thursday.

The automaker's loss decreased sequentially from Rs 1,516.14 crore in the December quarter (Q3FY22).

Tata Motors' consolidated total income from operations fell about 11.4 percent year on year to Rs 78,439.06 crore, down from Rs 88,627.90 crore.

The company's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBIDTA) margin for the quarter was 11.2 percent, a 320 basis point decrease. The EBIT margin declined 410 basis points to 3.2%.

Despite geopolitical and inflationary concerns, the manufacturer said demand remained solid. The supply situation is steadily improving, but commodity inflation is expected to stay high. "We expect performance to improve during the year as COVID-19 and semiconductor supplies improve, and we plan to produce significant EBIT and free cash flows in FY23 to achieve near net car debt-free status by FY2024."

Revenue for Jaguar Land Rover was £4.8 billion in Q4 FY22, up by 1% from Q3 FY22, with increased wholesales offset slightly by the impact of the previous generation Range Rover's runout, with the New Range Rover still ramping up. I

The Tata CV business continues to recover sequentially, spearheaded by the MHCV category. The company reported its best quarterly revenue since Q4'FY19 and increased market share in all sectors. Despite reduced margins as a result of commodity inflation, the effect on PBT (bei) of 607 crores in Q4 was smaller because to operating leverage from increased revenues.

Tata Passenger Vehicles completed a significant turnaround in Q4 FY 22 with the highest quarterly sales of 10.5 K Cr (+62%), positive EBIT of 1.2 percent, and positive free cash flows. In Q4, EV shipments increased to 9.1K units, while PV market share increased to 13.4 percent (+440bps). This outstanding success was driven by robust demand for the "New Forever" collection and fast supply measures.
