Guwahati: A partnership between an international consultancy firm -InDev, on the development and social sector and Assam Bio-Refinery, NECBDC (North East Cane and Bamboo Development Council), World Bank, and State Rural Livelihood Missions (starting with ASRLM- Assam State Rural  Mission).

This partnership will implement a marked-based and technology-driven to mobilize small bamboo producers and form and scale-up organizations across North East India.

The main focus area of the initiative is to provide a positive, sustainable impact on the livelihoods and incomes of 50,000 small bamboo producers across NER - India, reversal of land degradation, enhancement of soil health, and carbon sequestration and emission reduction.

Assam Bio-Refinery is the world's first commercial-scale bamboo-to-bioethanol bio-refinery scheduled for starting production in September 2022 and will purchase bamboo from bamboo growers and producer organizations across Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, and Nagaland.

And in an orderly, it will boost up the bamboo sector of the Northeastern region of India.
