Tura Industrial Fair 2022 to exhibit local handicrafts from Garo Hills

Guwahati: Head off to Tura to witness fine quality products crafted by artisans from the Garo Hills in Meghalaya.

Tura District Commerce and Industries Centre is organising the Tura Industrial Fair 2022 on June 9–10 at the SMELC facility in Dakopgre, Tura.

Tura Industrial Fair 2022 is now being organised after a three-year wait. It was halted due to Covid.

Tura is one of the major towns in Meghalaya, located in the West Garo Hills district. It also serves as the West Garo Hills district's headquarters.

An official said that this two-day fair will showcase fine quality products such as artistic paintings, handmade jewellery, knitted plush toys, Achik traditional handloom items, agro-food products, local honey, blacksmithy products, resin items, locally ready-made garments, locally branded wine, locally made slippers, and many more, all crafted by the artisans and industries from the Garo Hills.

Previously, it was conducted annually at the Wangala Festival - 100 Drums Festival in Asanang. Wangala Festival of Meghalaya is a well-known festival among the Garos of Meghalaya.
