New Delhi: Uber is all set to launch a new Uber Green electric vehicle service in June. Under this initiative, the Ride-hailing giant will offer riders the choice to book an all-electric, zero-emission vehicle for travel.

The service is already accessible in more than 100 cities spread over 15 nations. In India, this new service will initially roll out in Delhi, Bengaluru and Mumbai. According to the firm, Uber Green is a part of their strategy toward sustainability push.

Uber Green is the firm's one of the steps to reduce its carbon footprint. According to Uber, the launch of the service in India will not just help the brand meet its eco-friendly goals but presumably spur the adoption of EVs among riders. Uber has teamed with several fleet service providers, including Lithium Urban Technologies, Everest Fleet Private Limited, and Moove, to introduce Uber Green in India. With the assistance of these partners, it will deploy 25,000 electrified vehicles in seven locations. By using Uber Green, passengers will have the option to choose an all-electric, zero-tailpipe pollution vehicle for the ride.

Uber is increasing its attempts to evolve as an environmentally friendly business in India by introducing more electric vehicles, collaborating with fleet operators, expanding financing options, and allowing users to rent electric vehicles when scheduling a ride. It has announced a number of partnerships to electrify its services in India as part of its sustainability push, joining together with top business players to hasten the transition to sustainable transportation.

For instance, Uber plans to roll out 10,000 electric motorcycles in Delhi by 2024 by collaborating with Zypp Electric. Also, together with the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), it is offering loans of up to Rs 1,000 crores to encourage the usage of electric and compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles.
