New Delhi: The Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Narendra Singh Tomar, has launched the DigiClaim module under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), which will facilitate the electronic disbursement of insurance claims to insured farmers.

This move is aimed at easing the financial burden on farmers and streamlining the claim settlement process in six states.

The DigiClaim module has already disbursed insurance claims worth Rs 1260.35 crore to farmers in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, and Haryana.

This automated claim settlement process has been introduced to expedite the claim disbursal process and promote transparency and accountability. Farmers can track the claim settlement process in real-time on their mobile phones, which will enable them to have better control over their finances.

The Government of India is collaborating closely with states that have exited the PMFBY scheme to rejoin it, with Andhra Pradesh and Punjab already making a comeback.

This technological advancement aligns with PM Modi's vision of making India a digital powerhouse and is a significant step towards modernizing the PMFBY scheme.

The technology has been enabled through the integration of the National Crop Insurance Portal and the Public Finance Management System.
