Shillong: A team of 34 students from the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) will participate in the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES), an annual corporate confluence organised by the Entrepreneurship Cell (E-cell) of IIT Kharagpur.

The three-day summit will take place from Friday. The participants from USTM are from Applied Biology, Botany and Pharmaceutical Science departments. They will present 13 innovative projects while being accompanied by three mentors.

USTM Chancellor M. Hoque said, “We constantly encourage and urge our students to nurture innovation and originality. There is little question that the students would gain from their exposure to and understanding of the world stage at this international event hosted by IIT Kharagpur.”

According to Dr Amit Choudhury, Dean, School of Business Sciences, USTM, “The Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2023 is an attempt to give a much-needed resurgence for the Indian start-up ecosystem to overcome the present fundraising winter and the concerning depreciation of unicorn firms.”

One of the summit’s activities is an intern carnival, where students have a great chance to land internships with well-established start-ups and significant conglomerates.

The academics from all the institutions and IIT Kharagpur will interact with one another at the professors' meet and discuss entrepreneurship in their different fields of expertise. Additionally, a co-founders’ meet is the ideal venue for startup entrepreneurs looking for a co-founder.
