New Delhi: Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Wednesday called on corporations to "liberally handhold" educational institutions of the country, particularly those educating girls.
 
Dhankar, speaking at an event at the Indraprastha College for Women in New Delhi, called for the contribution of corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds to educational institutions, adding that he would be happy to interact with the industry on this point.
 
"An ecosystem has already been created where they can fully exploit their talent and realise their full potential", Dhankar told the girls. “It is time for you to think big, time for you to think the way you want to think."
 
"Women empowerment has enabled our girls to be principal participants in the marathon for Bharat@2047", referencing the Narendra Modi government's agenda to transform India into a developed nation by 2047. He added that "girl education is a revolution, girl education is changing an epoch."
 
Referring to recent initiatives like ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’, ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’, and the distribution of LPG connections to women, Dhankhar observed, "We have a defining moment in this century. Girls are defining the growth of India." He also insisted upon the need to follow economic nationalism, practice the idea of ‘Swadeshi’, and be ‘Vocal for Local’.

Meanwhile, Dinesh Bihani, Secretary of the Guwahati Tea Auction Buyer's Association (GTABA), has welcomed the Vice President's initiative. Asked for his opinion on the VP's remarks, Bihani stated, "I congratulate the efforts made for educating the girls of the northeast as it is extremely necessary. This is also the need of the hour for the tea industry as it is the largest employer of women, especially for tea plucking."
