World Bank to fund 9 PWD schemes of Rs. 40 cr

Guwahati: Nine Public Works Department (PWD) projects will receive funding from the World Bank as part of the Assam Agribusiness and Rural Transformation Project (APART). The Assam PWD has already released a tender for the implementation of these programmes.

For the implementation of nine PWD programmes under APART, the World Bank would contribute funds totaling Rs 40 crore. These projects, which are all connected to infrastructure development, must be finished within nine months.

These nine schemes are- construction of road from Durpang to Naharani via Balipathar PWD Road in the Lakhimpur district (Rs 5.22 crore): construction of road from Handique Tiniali to Dhemagarh to Rangati PWD via Majgaon in the Lakhimpur district (Rs 6 crore); construction of road from SH-43 at Madhavdev University to Badatighat Road at Bordeori, Dhanguloi, Hulaguri and No.2 Sonaribari village, Narayanpur mouza in the Lakhimpur district (Rs 5.69 crore); construction of road from jalukkata to Silikhaguri of Jalukkata and Saukuchi village, Narayanpur mouza in the Lakhimpur district (Rs 5.32 crore): Market Modernization and Improvement Programme (MMIP) of Nakhuti market in the Nagaon district (Rs 1.58 crore); MMIP of Dumunichawki weekly market in the Darrang district (Rs 2.41 crore); MMIP of Mandia SMY in the Barpeta district (Rs 2.73 crore); renovation and upgradation of warehousing facilities in the existing warehouse complex at Lakhipur in the Goalpara district (Rs 6.37 crore); and renovation and upgradation of warehousing facilities in the existing warehouse complex at Jamunamukh in the Nagaon district (Rs 4:45 crore).
