New Delhi: Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan unveiled the ‘Yuva Sangam’ portal under the initiative Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat for the youth of the North East. The portal aims at improving interpersonal relationships and foster empathy between the youth from the region.

Yuva Sangam’s main focus will be exposing young people from the Northeast—students and off-campus youth—to other states and vice versa. Additionally, it will offer a comprehensive and multifaceted experience of several aspects under the four main categories of ‘paryatan’ (tourism), ‘parampara’ (tradition), ‘pragati’ (development) and ‘paraspar sampark’ (interpersonal relationship).

According to Pradhan, Yuva Sangam will “strengthen people-to-people ties, mainstream the rich culture of our north-eastern states, bring great exposure and chances for knowledge exchanges, especially for our youth in the north-east”.

“Yuva Sangam will emphasise the power of India's democracy, celebrate India's diversity, and rekindle the nation’s sense of unity. Yuva Sangam, a novel endeavour, will reinforce the Indian spirit in Amrit Kaal even more,” he added.
The pilot programme is expected to attract 1,000 young people.

The portal was launched in association with a number of ministries and departments, including the Department for Development of North-East Region (DoNER), IRCTC, and the Ministries of Culture, Tourism, Railways, Information and Broadcasting, Youth Affairs and Sports, and Home Affairs.
