160 new companies registered from Assam in June

71 per cent companies from Northeast are active, according to the latest data maintained by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.

A total of 20,907 companies are registered from Northeast as of June 2022, according to Ministry of Corporate Affairs of which 14,898 conpanies are active.

The Ministry is primarily concerned with administration of the Companies Act 2013, the Companies Act 1956, the Limited Liability Partnership Act, 2008 & other allied Acts and rules and regulations framed there-under mainly for regulating the functioning of the corporate sector in accordance with law.

"An upward trend of more than 2% is observed for North-Eastern states such as Nagaland and Manipur with highest number of active companies in June as compared to May 2022" the ministry says.

As far as new companies registered from Northeast, Assam had 160, followed by Manipur with 26 and Nagaland with 11.

On the number of companies under liquidation, Assam has 14 while 56 companies are in the process of being striked off.

On new registration of Director Identification Number (DIN), North-Eastern states had 505 director registrations.

In June 2022, 32,090 Director Identification Numbers were registered out of which 98% were in use by Indian nationals and the remaining 2% were in use by Foreign nationals. Additionally, 184 DINs were deactivated.

Out of the total number of directors registered in India in June 2022, 70% were male and the remaining 30% were female. A close analysis on Indian Directors revealed that 43% of new directors registered belongs to age 31-45 years old, of which, 67% were male and 33% female. Furthermore, 7% of the new director registrations were older than 60 years.

Amongst the 37 States/UT with highest number of active companies, Maharashtra (20%) continues to be the state with highest number of Active Companies, followed by Delhi (15%) and West Bengal (9%).

A total number of 23,66,549 companies were registered in the country as on June 30, 2022, of which 62.5% companies stands active. The number of companies under the process of striking off has notably fallen in the month of June 2022, which has led to an increase of 1% in the total number of active companies as compared to May 2022.

The data shows that most companies in India are Private Limited companies, that account for 95% of the total companies with 38% of the total Paid-up Capital. In comparison, Public Limited companies are smaller in number (5%) but comprise 62% of the total Paid-up Capital.

Economic-activity wise classification of new companies registered reveals that the predominant share of companies is in Business Services (26%) followed by Manufacturing (21%), Community, personal & Social Services (14%), Trading (13%), and Construction (7%). Among the Industrial sector, Electricity, Gas and Water Supply companies observed a remarkable growth of more than 18% while in the Service Sector, Real Estate and Renting witnessed a rise of 6.15% in June 2022 in contrast to May 2022.

Foreign Company

As on June 30, there were a total of 5063 foreign companies were registered in India. Out of these, 65% were Active. Of the 12 new overseas business entities that were registered with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs during April 2022-June 2022, 50% in Maharashtra, 16% were established in Haryana, 8.3% each in Delhi and the rest in other states.
