What are economy meals?

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has introduced 'economy meals' at an affordable rate of Rs 20 for general passengers at select railway stations across India.

The initiative aims to provide affordable, hygienic food options for passengers, catering to the varied tastes of travelers from various backgrounds. Set up at nearly 150 counters across the railway network, the program is expected to make a significant difference during peak travel seasons like summer. The affordable meals are available near general second-class coaches on platforms, ensuring easy access for passengers in unreserved compartments.
