AGCL committed to achieve Rs. 1,000 Cr by next 2 years: MD

Duliajan: The Assam Gas Company Limited (AGCL) now has net worth of Rs 940.63 crores according to December-2021 to April 2021 financial reports, AGCL MD Gokul Chandra Swargiary announced that at a press meet here.

Swargiary also announced that the financial turnover of the company was over Rs 300 crore in the last fiscal. "We are committed to taking it to Rs 1,000 crore in the next two years," he added.

The profit after tax of the company in December 2021 to April 2021 quarter is Rs 63.51 crore, Swargiary said. "We have been dealing in gas connectivity and supply to over 1,200 commercial consumers, more than 41,000 domestic consumers, and 420 plus tea gardens. We have set the target to reach 2 lakh domestic piped natural gas connections in the next 3 years," he said.

"We have also obtained li cence from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas to start fuel retailing across the Northeast," he said add ing that the company will fur ther increase its integrated fuel retail atlets.

"The construction of the mother CNG station at Dulia jan is going on and it will be available for service in the next few months," he said.

The AGCL will complete 60 years of its establishment on March 31.

Regarding the City Gas Distribution projects of the company, AGCL Vice Chair man Indra Gogoi said that around 15 towns have been surveyed for piped natural gas supply.

AGCL has won the bid in the 11th round CGD bidding, forming JVC with the Oil In dia Limited, he added.

On April 3, an open meet ing will be held, where Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Water ways Sarbananda Sonowal, Central Minister for State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Rameswar Teli, State Industries and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, Power Minister Bimal Bora, AGCL Chair man Balin Chetia were in vited as guests.

Nazrul Hussain Hazarika gave a PowerPoint presentation on the journey of the company since its inception in 1962 to the present, while AGCL Chief Financial Officer Horen Mahanta anchored the programme.
