Guwahati: Invest India along with NEHHDC organised another event in Guwahati today.

Invest India hosted an artisan identification drive in Sonapur, Guwahati.

This artisan ID drive drew around 300  weavers and artisans from Assam. All local artisans and weavers can apply for this artisan ID drive, where they will be recognised with a unique ID.

This one-of-a-kind artisan ID will allow local weavers to take advantage of numerous government perks, programmes, and training opportunities, allowing them to expand their skill set and participate in various expos and craft bazaars. Brig. RK Singh, MD of NEHHDC, informed business-northeast that this artisan ID will financially benefit the craftsmen, who will ultimately improve their abilities, develop institutions under them, and be highly recognised with yearly featured incentives.

"The very first step is to give these trained craftsmen an identity in order to recognise their competence, which is an endeavour by NEHHDC," NEHHDC MD added.

Furthermore, "We are here for a beneficiary drive that may be used by many Assamese artisans or tiny weavers, stated Wg Cdr Rajendra Prasad, the Business Head of Authentic GI, who was also present at the drive meeting. "The majority of the artisans present at the drive were women. It was truly mind-boggling to witness at the drive "Authentic GI's Business Head said.

The ID campaign would provide all artists with the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities and become financially independent.
