Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that the state administration is drafting a road plan by addressing all detractors in order to offer a conducive atmosphere for industrial growth in the state.

Meeting with major industrialists at a programme, he stated that the government of Assam has been taking many initiatives to boost the state's economic landscape, including promoting ease of doing business and industrial growth.

At the event, the Assam government signed an MoU with the Directorate of Geology and Mining and SBI Capital Markets Ltd.

The agreement aims to use the experience of public sector capital market participants in the auctioning of the state's limestone and iron-ore blocks, which have been on a constant rise and will multifold profit in the next 50 years. And this will further add to the employment generation in this sector.

According to Chief Minister Dr. Sarma, industrialization in the state is constantly reliant on land policy, changes in forest land, the availability of energy sources, the practicality of business and trade, and so on.

He also stated that, in addition to the ongoing reformation of land policy, a well-planned reform in the electricity sector and the resulting income development have created a constructive climate in the state's industrial sector. As a consequence, power may be made accessible to all of the state's industrial units. He also stated that Externally Aided Projects from the Asian Development Bank have resulted in a reorganization of electricity distribution.

The Indian government has also approved projects worth Rs. 6000 crore for various electricity projects in the state. Furthermore, Deputy Commissioners have been given the authority to make judgments on matters such as land allotment for industrialization, land acquisition, rate fixation and compensation, and so on. After leasing land from the land bank to potential industrialists, the Industry Department can issue an NoC without even consulting the Revenue Department or the various DCs.

The Circle Officer and DC would have complete authority over land conversion and the establishment of CNG initiatives. He also stated that an 'E.O.D.B.' (Ease of Doing Business) site will be established in the state to promote industrialisation.

The revenue generated from the limestone and iron-ore block auctioning processes is expected to reach a total of 43,850 cr and 1,850 cr correspondingly during the next 50 years.

Aside from employment generation, the MoU will contribute to significant growth of the state's limestone, iron, steel, and cement sectors.

The interactive session featured representatives from OIL, NRL, Assam Gas Company, BCPL, Shalimar, Dalmia Cement, and a variety of other industrial entities.

Industries and Commerce Minister Bimal Bora, Power, Mines, and Minerals Minister Nandita Gorlosa, Adviser to the Government of Assam Education Dr. Nani Gopal Mahanta, prominent government officials, and notable industrialists attended the event.
