Assam should focus on the Act East Policy: Jayanta Mallabaruah

Guwahati: Jayanta Mallabaruah, Minister of the Skill, Employment, and Entrepreneurship Department (SEED) said that the geographical location of Assam stands as the most favourable location to focus on the implementation of India's Act East Policy.

The northeast region has the advantage of being able to grab the opportunity of the growing ASEAN market and facilitate an environment for investment and industrialization in the region, Jayanta Mallabaruah said addressing industry captains and others at the two-day IndiGlobal Bharat Conference in Guwahati, Assam, which came end on Tuesday.

The summit has been conducted by the Assam Skill Development Mission, Government of Assam, in cooperation with IndiGlobal Media Network, with a focus on the creation of collaboration among important government, industry, and academic stakeholders to become the development partners of Assam and the Northeast, as well as the intention to observe the involvement of key stakeholders and decision-makers.

The Skill, Employment, and Entrepreneurship Department (SEED) Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah at the two-day event's opening rite, "Indi Global Bharat Summit 2023: Rising North-East" said, "The geographical location of Assam stands as the most favourable location to focus on the implementation of India's Act East Policy. The northeast region has the advantage of being able to grab the opportunity of the growing ASEAN market and facilitate an environment for investment and industrialization in the region.

As per the path-breaking vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Northeastern region is definitely going to be the "new engine" for India's growth." He also added that the government is encouraging investments and will move the process along without delay. He continued by saying that Assam has a lot going for it and could develop into a major destination for medical travel in the years to come. The establishment of 17 cancer centres across the province.

A cross-section of issues from verticals including tea tourism, food processing, skilling and education, emerging technologies, tourism, handlooms & textiles, role of higher education in the 4.0 & 5.0 age, sustainable development, environment, and green jobs were discussed and deliberated on by business leaders, academics, and senior government officials from across the nation.

More than 3,000 delegates, including students from various institutions in and around Assam, attended the meeting. As part of a recruitment campaign, RE Sustainability, a Hyderabad-based business, gave job offer letters to students in the science track.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Ranoj stated that schooling includes ability. Many businesses, including institutions, expressed interest in opening operations in Assam. Senior officials have been told that top government officials from Assam are in discussions with multi-specialty institutions.

Dr. Om Manchanda, Managing Director of Dr. Lal Path Laboratories, stated that Assam has enormous potential to benefit from the possibilities that healthcare has to offer and that it could turn into a centre for medical tourism. It is one industry that is protected and won't contract. It is India's fifth-largest workplace. The field of molecular diagnostics is expanding quickly, and after Covid with home gathering, the purview broadened.

Public private partnerships (PPPs), according to Bhaskar Rao, founder and chairman of KIMS, are necessary in the healthcare industry.

Furthermore, teachers encouraged students to develop their skills and choose a job in the public service. At the group discussion on "The Changing Face of Governance," Government is evolving, according to Radhika Rastogi, IAS, Special Director of the Lal Bahadur Shastri National School of Administration (LBSNAA). The government is encouraging people to band together and self-help groups, particularly in agribusiness. Women in the Krishi Sakhi organisation support one another and progress towards independence. Similar to this, Pashu Sakhi and Bank Sakhi empower women to take charge and lead honourable lives.
