CM disburses 7739.5 cr funds to 5.10 lakh beneficiaries under PMAY-G

Guwahati: In a ceremony held at the Jorhat Court Field on Thursday, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma started the ceremonial approval of dwellings and the disbursement of funds to 5.10 lakh, PMAY-G recipients across Assam.

Giriraj Singh, Union Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, was the honoree on the event, while State Minister for Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Ranjeet Dass attended the event, as did Jorhat Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs Topon Kumar Gogoi and Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, as well as Mariani, Dergaon, and Teok MLAs Rupjyoti Kurmi, Bhabendra Nath Bharali, and Bhaskar Jyoti Baruah.

In his address to the gathering, the Chief Minister praised the Central Administration, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for its assistance to the state in improving the living circumstances of the underprivileged since the Modi government took office in 2014.

Sarma stated that today was a significant and historic day for the state since the government took a large step to offer housing under the PMAY-G plan to over five lakh households.

He stated that the Centre had sanctioned 19 lakh homes under PMAY-G since 2014, with a total budget of Rs 27,000 crore. Sarma stated that currently, seven lakh residences under the abovementioned programme are being built across the State, with another seven lakh being allocated to beneficiaries.

Sarma stated that a total of Rs 7739.5 crore will be spent for 5.10 lakh beneficiaries, with the first installment amounting to Rs 1657.5 crore bn
