CWWS launches development programs to support enterprise & credit support system

Phek: The Chakhesang Women Welfare Society (CWWS) launched the livelihood enterprises development program on ‘production of reusable sanitary pads and kids cloth diaper’ and micro enterprises development program on ‘agricultural product packaging and food safety standards’ at CBCC Conference Hall, T Chikri Pfutsero, Phek on February 1. 

Under these programs, sponsored by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), a total of 120 SHG members will get trained in four batches.

A press release received here stated that Dr. Imsunaro, DDM Phek, NABARD, launched the programme and highlighted the significance of the training so as to start their enterprise and the credit support system. 

EAC Pfutsero, Dr. Riku Khutso encouraged the trainees to advocate/campaign in normalizing matters around the menstrual cycle which is still considered a taboo in our community. He also encouraged trainees to actively participate in the training and translate knowledge and skills gained into future entrepreneurial ventures. Through the training program it will be able to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Sekulu Nyekha, Youth Champion, Feminist Futures India shared the importance of menstruation in women's life. She encouraged all to “be more open in discussing the menstruation, descript not as a dirty blood but as a natural blood flow, educate the society that every woman has the right to speak out about menstruation problem.” 

“As we make cloth pads, we must re-establish menstruation and the way we talk about it. Menstrual right is a basic human right. It entails so many of our rights as written in our Constitution. We must know about our bodies, and create safe spaces that welcome conversations around it,” she added. 

Neingupe-u K Rhakho, Women Secretary, CBCC said the invocation, Nezelu Nyekha, Executive Director, CWWS gave the welcome address. 

Short speeches were delivered by Kevitsoto Stephen Chasie, LDM Phek, Dr. Esther, Senior Scientist, and Head KVK, Porba, SBI Branch Manager, Pfutsero, Dr. Vepfuhu Kezo, Medical Officer, Pfutsero were part of the programme.
