Mumbai: X, under the leadership of CEO Linda Yaccarino, has revealed that the platform has disbursed more than $50 million in ad-sharing revenue to creators, marking a significant milestone in its evolution into a video-first platform.
Originally known as Twitter, the platform underwent a radical transformation following its acquisition by Elon Musk in October 2022, shifting from a 140-character messaging app to a dynamic video-centric platform. Yaccarino remarked, "Less than 18 months later, it is a 'video-first' platform, and part of what's driving that success is inviting creators onto our platform."
At the time of its acquisition, X boasted a modest 3,500 creators. However, with the advancement of its video capabilities, the platform now hosts over 150,000 creators. Moreover, X is poised to enhance its user experience further with the imminent launch of a dedicated TV app, akin to Google-owned YouTube.
Yaccarino emphasized that the TV app would feature trending video algorithms, AI-powered topics, and a cross-device experience, epitomizing Elon Musk's vision of making X an "everything app."With 600 million monthly active users, half of whom engage with the platform daily, X continues to assert its prominence in the digital landscape, offering unparalleled opportunities for creators and users alike."
