Flybig airlines to connect Itanagar to Guwahati from Jan 15

Itanagar: FlyBig Airlines, based in Indore, will begin service between Itanagar and Guwahati on January 15. Pema Khandu, Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, announced it in a tweet.

Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, laid the foundation for the project for greenfiled airport at Itanagar in 2019.  The terminal, which spans 4100 square metres, has a peak hour capacity of 200 passengers.

It also aims to highlight the traditions and culture of the northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh, as well as its architecture.

""Delighted to meet Shri Ratan Ambhore, head of ground operations, @flybigairlines, which will begin Itanagar-Guwahati flight service on January 15, 2023, by deploying 70-seater ATR 72-500 aircraft at #DonyiPolo airport," the chief minister tweeted. The Chief Minister expressed his excitement on Twitter.

Pema Khandu also assessed the facilities and reviewed the progress at the new airport, requesting that the hiring of personnel for several positions be completed as soon as possible.

He also directed the contractors to complete the outstanding work by the deadline, even if it meant working two shifts every day.

He made the announcement before departing from Donyi Polo Airport

The new flight service will shorten travel time and reduce costs between the two capitals. Despite the fact that it has not been officially announced, ticketing platforms are currently showing tickets for just over Rs 1000 plus applicable taxes.

He confirmed that this will benefit not only visitors to Arunachal Pradesh, but also Assamese residents in the surrounding areas in terms of travel and transportation.
