Manas to get a top brand hotel

Hospitality infrastructure is the key to tourism development: Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) and Indian Hotel Company Limited (IHCL) at Guwahati today in the presence of Tourism Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah and BTR Chief Executive Officer Pramod Boro.

The agreement between ATDC and Indian Hotel Company Limited (IHCL) will look at the construction of a luxury Ginger brand hotel near the Manas National Park.

According to the MoU, ATDC will grant long-term leases in favor of IHCL. and IHCL will construct a hotel by itself, or through a partner/investor, as deemed suitable, and subject to mutually agreed terms and conditions, potentially branded under Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) "Ginger”.

The hotel will benefit tourists visiting the Manas National Park and the BTR region of Assam. By putting weight on this prospect, minister Jayanta Mallabaruah said “There was a time when there was no atmosphere for such brand hotels to come to Assam but in today's context, well-known groups are coming forward to sign MoUs in Assam, which is a matter of great pride." Minister Baruah thanked the Chief Executive Officer of BTR Pramod Boro for the current peaceful environment in BTR and said that BTR will become a tourism destination with excellent infrastructure in the coming days. He added that today's MoU signing will enable every tourist to have an enjoyable and comfortable experience in the Manas National Park.
Political Secretary to the Chief Minister and Rajya Sabha MP Pabitra Margherita, Additional Chief Secretary to the Tourism Department Maninder Singh, ATDC Managing Director Kumar Padmapani Bora, IHCL Vice President Ankita Gupta, and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
