Manipur's dry king chillies now in United States market

Guwahati: The state of Manipur has successfully exported 600 kg of organic dry king chillies, marking yet another significant milestone for Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA).

It should be noted that the shipment is a portion of 1.1 metric tonnes of export-quality chillies going to the United States of America.

On November 5, 2022, a 1.1 MT cargo from Manipur to the United States of America was flagged off, with the assistance and cooperation of MOMA and Nahakpam Food and Beverages. The shipment of 600 kg of organic king chillies is a component of that consignment.

Farmers are producing organic chillies as part of the Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North Eastern Regions (MOVCD-NER).

According to estimates, 10 metric tonnes of fresh chilies were used to manufacture 600 kg of organic dried king chillies, which sell for Rs 22 lakh on the international market.

However, organic oranges from Dambuk have been introduced to Lulu Group's Hypermarkets in Dubai, UAE, in an effort to support the promotion and sale of agricultural and horticultural goods from Arunachal Pradesh in the worldwide market.

The oranges launched at Lulu Hypermarket Flagship Stores in the presence of government representatives from the state of Arunachal Pradesh, at Lulu Group International at an event on 1st December 2022 in Dubai during a programme organised by Arunachal Pradesh Agriculture Marketing Board in collaboration with Lulu Group International, Dubai.

Acknowledging APAMB's and APEDA's work, the regional manager for Lulu Group, K P Thamban stated that this achievement will pave the way for a number of other organic goods from the State to enter the market. Further, he complimented the Agriculture Marketing Board's and Lulu Group's quick work in coordinating this import.

He also emphasised that branding and marketing of agricultural and horticultural products from the state will result in an eventual rise in the number of Arunachal Pradesh-produced goods available at Lulu Stores.

Speaking at the event, Bidol Tayeng Agriculture Production Commissioner cum Secretary (Agri.) Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh, commended APAMB and Lulu for working together to effectively organise this programme in order to build a strong perception of the favourable business climate in the state and support the growth of business flow into the state. He said that organic oranges are only the state's main product right now; in the days to come, many other state products will also make their way into these marketplaces.

The oranges from Arunachal Pradesh were grown by Dambuk Organic Orange Producer Company Limited, established under MOVCD-NER, according to Okit Palling, CEO of APAMB, who spoke at the event.

He said that the state's agricultural and horticultural goods, such as pumpkin, pineapple, ginger, turmeric, and large cardamom, are of the highest quality with the exception of logistical issues. Additionally, he thanked the Chief Minister, Minister of Agriculture and Allied Sectors Pema Khandu, and Minister of Agriculture Tage Taki for their steadfast assistance.

Around 200 people from many walks of life, including customers, were there in addition to the media and other visitors and some other retail business houses from throughout the nation.
