New Delhi: The Ministry of minority affairs on Saturday said it had allocated Rs 172.10 crore to develop a multidisciplinary sports complex and women entrepreneurship facilitation centers in Nagaland.

According to officials, this investment aims to bolster sports infrastructure and promote economic growth by facilitating sports and recreational events in the state. The women entrepreneurship facilitation canter is set to empower women entrepreneurs and create market linkages, benefiting approximately 3.25 lakh women, including 3.16 lakh from minority communities.

The development comes days after Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio unveiled an Integrated Business Hub and Innovation Center (IBHIC) in Dimapur, the economic nerve centre of the Northeast Indian state.

In another significant move, the ministry has sanctioned Rs 92.34 crore to North Eastern Himalayan University (NEHU) in Meghalaya for the construction of four hostels and one auditorium.  The NEHU, a central university, is one of the oldest and most prestigious in the region.
