Aizawl: Mizoram’s organic pineapple industry seems to be celebrating another successful milestone with its second shipment of organic pineapples to Mumbai.

On August 17, James Lalsiamliana, the Agriculture Director and Mission Director of Mission Organic Mizoram (MOM), oversaw the flag-off of 6 quintals (600 kg) of organic pineapples. These were cultivated by the Tuichangral Organic Farmer Producer Co. Ltd and are destined for Josie’s Kitchen, North East Cuisines, in Mumbai. This marks the second such shipment this month.

The event was organised by Clover Organic Pvt Ltd and it was graced by the presence of Dr H Saithantluanga, former agriculture director and director of MOM, and Lalnunpuii Parte, state coordinator for MOM.

The initiative is part of the Central Scheme Mission Organic Value Chain Development for the North Eastern Region (MOVCD-NER), Phase-III. This initiative is guided by the State Lead Agency, MOM, and executed in collaboration with Clover Organic Pvt Ltd.
The effort is centred around promoting organic farming and sustainable agriculture practices in the North Eastern Region. The Tuichangral Organic Farmer Producer Co. Ltd, consisting of 500 farmers from eight villages, has been at the forefront of this endeavour, showcasing unity and innovation in their organic farming practices.

C. Lalrinsanga, the state minister of agriculture, initiated the first shipment of 5 quintals of pineapples on August 2. This initiative not only promotes organic farming but also highlights the potential of the region's agricultural produce on a larger platform.
