Nabard allocated Rs 230 crore to Mizoram under Rural Infrastructure Development Fund.

KVSSLV Prasada Rao, General Manager, NABARD, Mizoram Regional Office called on Chief Minister of Mizoram Pu Zoramthanga to hand over the letter from Chairman of NABARD to the Hon’ble Chief Minister informing allocation of Rs.230 crore under Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) XXVIII for sanctioning of rural infrastructure projects in the State of Mizoram.

GM, NABARD, requested Chief Minister to kindly advise the Finance Department for submission of suitable proposals for sanction by NABARD. The Chief Minister was also apprised about the on-going RIDF projects in the State.

RURAL INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT FUND

Government of India created the RIDF in NABARD in 1995-96, with an initial corpus of Rs.2,000 crore. With the allocation of Rs40,000 crore for 2021-22 under RIDF XXVII, the cumulative allocation has reached Rs. 4,18,408.73 crore, including Rs.18,500 crore under Bharat Nirman.

Eligible Activities
At present, there are 39 eligible activities under RIDF as approved by Government of India. The eligible activities are classified under three broad categories

Agriculture and related sector
Social sector
Rural connectivity

GM, NABARD also briefed the Chief Minister about the other activities of NABARD viz., refinance to banks, developmental initiatives in tribal development, springshed development, financial literacy, etc. He handed over a booklet containing the activities of NABARD in the state of Mizoram.

Mizoram Chief Minister thanked NABARD for the continued support for rural infrastructure projects and other initiatives in the State.
