NRDC and ICC organises seminar on role of technology in food and tea industry

Guwahati: The National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) and Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) organised a seminar on improvement of Technology in Food, Agriculture and Tea Industry on January 25.

An industry interaction meet was also conducted focussing on Agro, Tea and Food Processing sector at Guwahati.

The primary objective of the meet was to highlight technologies available with NRDC for licensing to entrepreneurs in the area of Agro-Tea-Food sector and to provide a smooth platform for networking between technology developers and technology receivers of North east region (NER).

The meet also aimed to showcase the latest developments in the field of Agro-Tea-Food Sector which can be beneficial to the NER region in uplifting their economy.

In opening address CMD NRDC shed light on NRDC’s promotional schemes for inventors/innovators /entrepreneurs and stated the significant role of NRDC in acting as a strong bridge between academia and industries in promoting, transferring & commercializing indigenous technologies which is essential to make our country self-sufficient.

G.N Sastry said NRDC’s presence in NER will hand hold Assamese entrepreneurs and other north eastern industries in technology commercialization field which will subsequently result in growth, development of NER.

During the interactive session, industrialists took keen interest in technology licensing and enquired about the Technology Transfer process from NRDC representatives. Some innovators took interest in availing IP related services offered by NRDC.

NRDC showcased millet-based ready-to-transfer technologies which may benefit ongoing Assam Millet Mission.

The meet also looked at handholding to translate ideas into business growth opportunities which will create an enabling ecosystem and a win-win situation for all parties involved.
