Guwahati: The centrally sponsored Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme, has received good response, Federation of Industries and Commerce and North Eastern Region (FINER).

The scheme launched under the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, to enhance the competitiveness of existing individual micro-enterprises in the unorganized segment of the food processing industry and promote formalization of the sector.

“Till date a total of 88881 applications submitted to the ministry which consist of both One District One Product (ODOP) and Non-ODOP. Under this scheme micro enterprises gets Credit-Linked Subsidy at 35 percent of total eligible project cost with celling of Rs 10 Lakhs for upgradation of infrastructure and capacity addition,” a statement from FINER said.

The scheme focuses on Women Entrepreneurs and aspirational districts. As defined in the scheme Self Help Groups are liable to seed capital for giving loans to members for working capital and small tools.

To promote the scheme FINER also organised workshops and seminars on 15th and 17th February in Lunglei (Mizoram) and Jorhat (Assam) respectively.

More than 300 members of self-help group and farmers attended the workshops in both places.

The workshops revolved around awareness of Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro food processing Enterprises (PMFME) and Pradhan Manti Kisan Sampada Yojna (PMKSY) Schemes. These seminar primarily focuses on Agro Processing Cluster Development of Modern Infrastructure and common facilities to encourage Group of Entrepreneurs.
The workshops were attended by representatives from national banks, Industries departments, Rural Livelihood Missions and other local industry associations. These seminars and workshops are major push to formalize the unorganized sectors by disseminating proper knowledge and handholding by the Ministry of Food Processing, Government of India.
