Construction underway for 40 viewpoints to boost tourism in NE: Reddy

New Delhi: Construction of over 40 viewpoints along highways in the Northeast has started in an effort to boost tourism in that area of India, informed Union Minister G Kishan Reddy.

Last year, the minister said that 100 perspectives will be built along motorways in the Northeast area before to the country's year-long G20 chairmanship. Reddy, who also oversees the development of the North East Region (DONER), revealed the status of various projects within his ministry and future plans while revealing that nearly 40 of the 100 viewpoints that will be built alongside highways in the Northeast region have already started construction.

Reddy added "We will cooperate with the DoNER ministry and the NHAI for these views, which would offer basic amenities for travellers aside from giving a picturesque site to gaze for visitors.

These overlooks will offer roadside facilities including restrooms and a little café, as well as a tourist selfie spot.
Reddy added that other ministers will be enlisted to help the Vibrant Villages Program in border villages promote initiatives linked to tourism "The BRO (Border Roads Organization) has constructed BRO cafés along 75 border region routes in 12 states. The Vibrant Villages Initiative has also received clearance from the Union Cabinet, and we will try to promote it "added he. The federal cabinet has approved the Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP) programme for the fiscal years 2022-2023 to 2025-2026 with an allocation of Rs 4,800 crore.

The programme will offer funding for the construction of necessary infrastructure and the creation of livelihood opportunities in 19 districts and 46 borderblocks across four states and one UT along the northern land border of the nation. This will aid in achieving inclusive growth and preserving the population in the border regions.

According to the government, 663 communities would be included in the initiative in the first phase.
