Assam companies to show prowess at IEW-2024

Guwahati: India Energy Week 2024 will kick off in Goa on Tuesday with Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurating the international event organised by ONGC this year.

The IEW-2024 will be held from February 6 to February 9 in which will have over 35,000 delegates and more than 900 exhibitors. As many as 17 energy ministers from different countries are expected to attend.

Oil and gas companies from Assam, Oil India and Numaligarh Refinery will also be showcasing their achievements at the grand event, says a source. All major industry leaders will attend and for Assam which is a hub for oil and gas sector, the event will present opportunities to attract investors and show the state’s achievements.

IEW-2024 will have six dedicated country pavilions from Canada, Germany, Netherlands, Russia, UK and USA. A special Make in India Pavilion is also being organised to showcase innovative solutions which Indian MSMEs are spearheading in the energy sector, said a PIB press release on Monday.

It will be India’s largest and only all-encompassing energy exhibition and conference, bringing together the entire energy value chain, and will serve as a catalyst for India's energy transition goals.

Prime Minister will hold a roundtable with Global oil & gas CEOs and experts. Besides Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep S. Puri and ministers and industry leaders, Oil India chairman and managing director, Ranjit Rath is also a speaker.

During the discussions, there will be opportunities for young entrepreneurs also as discussions will include the start-up ecosystem.

“Encouraging and fostering start-ups and integrating them into the energy value chain will be an important focus for India Energy Week 2024,” said the PIB release.

Held under the patronage of the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas and officially supported by the Federation of Indian Petroleum Industry (FIPI), India Energy Week 2024 will be India’s largest and only all-encompassing energy exhibition and conference, bringing together the entire energy value chain, and will serve as a catalyst for India's energy transition goals.

For Modi, achieving self-reliance in energy is a priority and the event will discuss innovative ways to achieve the goal.
Prime Minister will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stones of projects worth over Rs1330 crores in a public programme in Goa. He will also inaugurate the ONGC Sea Survival Centre on Tuesday morning before inaugurating the energy event.

ONGC Sea Survival Centre will be a one-of-a-kind Integrated Centre to advance the Indian sea survival training ecosystem to global standards. It is expected to train 10,000-15,000 personnel annually. Exercises in simulated and controlled harsh weather conditions shall enhance Sea Survival skills of trainees and thus potentially increase the chances of safe escape from real life disasters, government has said.

The events come two days after the Prime Minister presented a bunch of high-value infrastructure projects to the Northeast while on his visit to Guwahati from February 3-4.
