Railways extend facility to book unreserved tickets on UTS app

Guwahati: The Ministry of Railways have decided to extend the facility to book unreserved tickets on Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) mobile application from a distance of up to 20 km for non-suburban sections. Unreserved ticketing is more convenient for passengers planning a journey at the last minute.

In Suburban areas, the distance has been enhanced to 5 km from 2 km.

Passengers can purchase unreserved tickets from one part of the country to another through Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) mobile application on their smart phones.

The unreserved ticket can now be booked in long distance trains for all stations through UTS mobile application subject to availability. Previously, purchasing of unreserved tickets through UTS mobile application could be done only for passengers travelling within a specific zone and range.

The UTS mobile application allows the booking of season tickets, monthly passes and platform tickets, saving passenger’s time and sparing them long queues at ticket counters. Payment can be made through wallets or through internet banking.

The UTS mobile application is available across both Android and amp; iPhone Operating System (IOS) platforms and can be downloaded/installed free of cost from the respective play stores. The UTS mobile application has been widely appreciated for its usability as well as customer interface.
