Gangtok: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang has announced a Buddhist Development Plan (BDP), allocating a total of Rs 43.98 crores to ten approved projects in the state.

The focus of these projects is to enhance infrastructure for monastic schools, and to provide improved facilities and educational opportunities for Buddhist monks in the region, according to Tamang.

"These projects are not mere structures but symbols of progress and prosperity and these developments will extend across generations, positively impacting the community", the Chief Minister said. "The initiative is designed to contribute to the socio-economic development of the Buddhist population nationwide."

In addition to the BDP projects, Tamang inaugurated the Kyongsa ground, a wellness park located at the Gumpa premises, and the three-storeyed police station for Rs 3 crore.

"The BDP aligns with the state's broader vision for sustainable growth and inclusivity. As the state makes significant strides in enhancing infrastructure for monastic schools, it aims to foster a conducive environment for education and well-being among the Buddhist community", Tamang said.
