The North-East Small-Scale Industries Association (NESSIA) is organizing the first-ever North East Tech Expo and Summit in Guwahati from 22nd to 24th September, and the exhibitors have a dedicated section for Energy Tech. This segment emphasizes showcasing the latest technological advancements in renewable and non-renewable energy.

Speaking to Business Northeast, Pranab Jyoti Patar, Environmentalist, and CEO of Global Foundation, and advisor of the NE Expo, said that the focus is more on Solar Energy. "Companies from across India will be joining the exhibition to showcase their products, especially solar. We believe that this will provide a good push for NE states to adopt solar energy."

Amrut Energy Pvt Ltd:

Amongst the top companies to participate in the ever North East Tech Expo and Summit is Amrut Energy Pvt Ltd. The Ahmedabad-based firm manufactures high-quality submersible pump sets, solar panels, and pump controllers as well as electric pumps and high-energy-efficient solar pumps.

“Amrut Energy has always believed in sustainable growth. And as the market is growing rapidly in the renewable energy sector, choosing Solar Products wasn't a brainer. Solar energy is currently the most affordable and feasible energy source - may it be a small farmer living in the most distant lands or a businessman living at the most urban location in a metro city,” said Devangkumar Kavar, Business Development Executive.

“Many villages of rural NE do not have adequate electricity or there is no electricity at all, for household use and especially for irrigation purposes. To address this problem, we have come up with products that run on solar energy and are pocket friendly to the consumers,” he added.

Kavar said that apart from the direct customers, the local and the central government's support to private players in the renewable energy sectors have opened up immense opportunities in the sector.

“With an expected footfall of more than 10,000 visitors, the North East Tech Expo will offer us a unique opportunity to showcase our capabilities and offerings in the solar industry in the NE. We expect the event will provide a widespread brand reach and provide significant new business opportunities for us,” he added.

Sunlight Infra Energy Pvt Ltd:

It is one of the leading companies in India, and manufactures solar water, pumps, solar street lights, and solar panels as well as solar rooftop system, solar traffic blinkers, and solar lanterns in India, and is headquartered in Ahmedabad.

“It is not wrong to say that irrigation is the backbone of agriculture. Irrigation of crops is the most important part of farming and farmers go to different lengths to make sure that their crops are properly irrigated. A main problem is the cost of electricity to run these water pumps. Again, there are severe irregularities in power supply in villages of India. The one-shot solution to this can be solar water pumps,” stated Darshan Parmar of Sunlight Infra Pvt Ltd.

“Using solar water pumps has decreased the resource utilization of energy-dependent resources such as diesel, gas, and coal. Increasing investment in agriculture application is expected to propel market growth in the coming years,” he added.

Sunlight Infra Energy Private Limited offers both Dual AC and DC range of pumps suitable for surface, bore well, and open well applications. In the past two years, the firm has installed over 3000 pumps in the NE under various government departments like PHED, Irrigation department, Jal Jeevan Mission, Panchyatiraj, Railways, etc.

“We all are concerned about our Earth as well as our environment. Considering environment protection and extensive use of related eco-friendly products, many organizations, individuals, NGO bodies, and institutes are in consideration for bringing up new thoughts, concepts, and ideas to use for consumer/organization durability. Solar Street Lights is one of the eco-initiatives, which is often more focused for usage in business premises, and official purpose,” said officials of Sunlight Infra.

“Solar street lights are prominent alternatives to the standard grid electric lighting. These are highly efficient and effective light sources for durable use which makes it a highly economical and environment-friendly substitute to electric street lights,” he added.

The firm has also installed more than 5000 Solar Street lights in various parts of NE under different government schemes.

With participation in the North East Tech Expo and Summit, the company hopes to penetrate more into the private sector.
