Guwahati: Assam Tourism Minister Ranjit Kumar Das inaugurated a new Tourism Information Center at the Guwahati Railway Station.
The center, set up by the state’s Tourism Department, is aimed at assisting domestic and international travellers arriving by train with key travel information and hospitality services.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Das stated, “The Tourism Information Center will serve as a vital resource for visitors, offering details on Assam’s rich tourist attractions and available services. This is part of our commitment to improve the travel experience and promote Assam as a favoured destination.”
The center is one of several thoughtful at major entry points across the state, including Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport and Kamakhya Railway Station. These hubs are being industrialised to serve as first-contact points for tourists, providing essential information through trained personnel, tourism brochures, maps, and real-time updates on travel and lodging.
Stressing its meaning, the Minister emphasised the importance of timely and quality service, particularly for foreign tourists. “The staff here must be dedicated and responsive. Assam’s image as a welcoming and tourist-friendly state depends on such front-line services,” he said, influence officials to uphold the highest standards of professionalism.
The inauguration was joined by Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) Chairman Rituparno Barua, Vice Chairman Dilip Das, Tourism Commissioner Prabhati Thauchen, Director Ranoz Kumar Barkatki, and other senior officials.
The afresh recognised centre is foreseeable to play a crucial role in increasing travel influxes by acting as an nearby, well-equipped guidepost for travellers.
