Guwahati: The Assam Trade Promotion Organisation (ATPO) will be organizing a trade fair from November 27 to December 8 on the sidelines of the 'Raas Mahotsav' in Nalbari, Assam on the same field.

The Raas Mahotsav celebrates the life of Lord Krishna through dance, drama, and musical performances. This year's iteration in Nalbari will be the 90th edition of the iconic festival.

Earlier this week, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced a financial grant of Rs 25,000 to celebrate the Raas festival across 3,000 different locations. "This initiative aims to support and encourage the celebration of this traditional festival across our region", he posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Around 27 groups from across India will take part in the fair and around 100 stalls displaying a plethora of items will be put up. Among foreign countries, Afghanistan will have representation at the fair, officials have disclosed. Notably, stall owners from Assam will be able to put up their stalls free of cost. The fair will be inaugurated by Bimal Borah, the Minister for Industries and Commerce.

Last year, ATPO organized a similar fair where they had earned a revenue of Rs. 1 crores. "We are very confident of success this year as the number of stalls has doubled, a senior official of the ATPO said. "We are also looking forward to the upcoming Winter Expo to be held from December 23 onwards", he said.
