Training programme on Homestays held to boost tourism in Arunachal Pradesh

Keeping in pace with the latest trend in India and to boost tourism potential in Arunachal Pradesh, the state Tourism Department organized a training programme on homestays. The ‘orientation cum training’ was conducted in collaboration with the Leparada district administration. It was aimed at training the unemployed youths and other interested individuals to encourage self employment, and was organised in a tourist lodge.

Northeast has many unexplored destinations and its natural and rural tourism sector has gathered much attraction post the pandemic as people are looking for travelling options within the country.

Meanwhile the homestay business, although very new in India is booming. These are seen as home away from home and provide the opportunity to mingle with the locals and understand the culture and traditions from up close.

The Himalayan state of Arunachal Pradesh is known for its beauty and resilience. Basar is an unexplored tourist destination in the Lepa-rada district of Arunachal Pradesh.

The training programme was conducted along the lines of a similar programme that had been organizes on 26th August for Soi and Nyigam villages at the Soi area under the chairpersonship of Leparada Deputy Commissioner Mamata Riba and in the presence of District Tourism Officer Bishal Aran, representatives from the ICAR and the police department, HODs, and others.

The event was attended by former deputy commissioner and founding chairperson of Senior Citizen’s Forum, Hengo Basar. He had urged young entrepreneurs to gain various innovative schemes made available by the tourism sector of the state government.

The participants of the “the ways and means of homestay business” were apprised by District Tourism Officer Bishal Aran as well as by other resource persons from the agriculture and animal husbandry sectors.
