New Delhi: The government has approved the development of 11 Industrial Corridors with 32 Projects to be developed in four phases in the country as part of the National Industrial Corridor Programme (NICP) which are under various stages of conceptualization/development /implementation.

Govt. of Tamil Nadu in January 2021 submitted a proposal for funding assistance to Chennai Kanyakumari Industrial Corridor (CKIC) under NICP, and have been requested to submit a detailed proposal (Comprehensive Development Plan/Feasibility Report) for the inclusion of CKIC under the Industrial Corridor framework along with detailed information on the availability of land. Therefore, no amount is allocated for this corridor as yet. The Objective of the development of industrial corridors is to expand the industrial output, increasing employment opportunities, provide better living and social facilities for the new and growing workforce by way of providing plug n play infrastructure at the plot level for industries.
