Guwahati: Within two weeks, 20 lakh people have participated in the 'Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra' "highlighting the commitment and resolve of citizens in driving the nation's progress", the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said on November 28.

Earlier this month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra at an event in Jharkhand "to ensure the saturation of flagship government schemes."

The journey has so far covered 7,800 gram panchayats and over 16.23 lakh individuals have taken a pledge to work towards a viksit (developed) nation, the release added. As a part of this mission, at least 5,470 health camps have been set up across 995 gram panchayats and over 7,82,000 individuals have received healthcare in the early days of the Yatra.

Screenings for tuberculosis, sickle cell disease, hypertension, and diabetes have also reached "commendable numbers", with significant referrals made for further evaluation and care, the release revealed further, without specifying the numbers.

"The health-related achievements stand as a testament to the proactive approach taken during these camps", the release said, adding that almost 10 lakh Ayushman cards have also been generated since the launch of the Yatra.

The Yatra's focus on welfare schemes and policies has also been "equally impactful", the Ministry noted in the release. It shared that more than 21,000 people had enrolled in the PM Ujjwala Yojana on the inaugural day and the narratives shared during 'Meri Kahani, Meri Zubani' by over 50,000 people had served as "poignant testimonials" of the transformative impact of government schemes in their lives.

"The Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra reflects the collaborative efforts of citizens and the government to achieve inclusive development. As it continues its journey, the Yatra signals a bright future for the nation that is marching steadfastly towards progress and prosperity", said the government release.
