6G services in India to be rolled out within a decade

"Young people can work on new solutions to promote the use of drone technology in the agriculture and health sector. We are also preparing to launch 6G by the end of this decade. We are encouraging Indian solutions in gaming and entertainment. The way the Indian government is investing in technology, every youth should take its advantage," he said.

The Prime Minister said that everyday new areas and challenges are seeking innovative solutions. He told the innovators to find solutions for the agriculture related issues. He asked the young innovators to take full advantage of the initiatives like optical fiber in every village and launch of 5G, preparation for 6G by the decade end, and promotion of the gaming ecosystem. He said that Indian innovations always provide the most competitive, affordable, sustainable, secured and at scale solutions. That is why the world is looking towards India with hope.

5G services to be available soon

Besides, Union minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced that high-speed 5G services would be available in most parts of the country in two-three years. He also added that the stable availability of the network in major circles is expected by October 12.

Previously, the government had said that 5G connectivity would launch in the country by September 29. On the other hand, Airtel had promised its availability this month.

According to sources, the minister at a press conference said that India offers one of the most affordable mobile plans in the world, and the trend will continue with 5G services.

"We expect an investment of around Rs 2.5-3 lakh crore to come into the industry. Rs 3 lakh crore is a big investment. This is also leading to good employment generation. Our estimate is 5G will reach almost all parts of the country in the next 2-3 years," said Vaishnaw.

Previously the Department of telecommunications (DoT) announced that the high-speed 5G internet would rollout in 13 major Indian cities of Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Gandhinagar, Gurugram, Hyderabad, Jamnagar, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Pune.

The union minister further spoke about the new Right of Way (RoW) rules, which essentially clarify charges levied on laying cables, access to public poles, and more at the latest press conference.

The new rules provide a sigh of relief to private firms when it comes to seeking approval for laying down the infrastructure.

Vaishnaw said, "Earlier, it took 343 days for RoW approvals, which has now come down to 22 days. Last July, the average was even better, which was 16 days. This is a clear impact of reforms undertaken by the prime minister."
