Guwahati: Assam CM inaugurated projects worth over Rs 973 cr in Dibrugarh

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, laid the foundation stones for the projects worth Rs. 973.38 crore in Dibrugarh district on Saturday.

The CM attending the final event of the first phase of "Bikakhor Babe Eta Pokhek" (a fortnight for development ideas), in the Tingkhong district urged people to participate in an economic revolution to advance the state's overall development.

Despite the fact that Assam has "saw many agitations, 'dharnas,' and 'hartals' over the years, it is now important to focus on revitalising the state's intellectual, cultural, and developmental landscape," he remarked. The CM said that reinforcing and improving the river bank of Buridihing at an estimated cost of Rs 250 crore will be undertaken as part of plans for the development of Dibrugarh.

According to Sarma, the government intends to build a zoo in the area of Tingkhong and to commemorate the Ahom tradition of paying respects to Me-Dam-Me-Phi at the venerable Tipam.

He also laid the foundation stones for a number of projects in the district as part of the development programme, including the construction of four mini stadiums, a rural sports complex at Abhoipur in Moran, an upgrade of the government ITIs in Dibrugarh and Lahowal, and the Dibrugarh Government Polytechnic, which is located in Lahowal.
The chief minister inaugurated 24 piped water supply schemes under the Jal Jeevan Mission, a PWD bungalow at Tingkhong, the Government Dental College in Dibrugarh, and a project facilitation centre for the Water Resources department.

Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Rameswar Teli, Assam ministers Ranjeet Kumar Dass, Keshab Mahanta, Bimal Bora, MLAs Prasanta Phukan, Taranga Gogoi, Teros Gowala and Chakradhar Gogoi were among others present at the event.
