Guwahati: Assam is actively working on the Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade's (DPIIT) Business Reform Action Plan (BRAP) for this year "to achieve all 287 state reforms."

"The state has already completed 253 reforms", officials informed earlier this week, as the Chief Secretary Ravi Kota reviewed action plans with the department to complete the rest.

“Assam is vying for excellence in Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) alongside major states", Kota Tweeted. To emulate the reforms at the pan India level, the Business Reforms Action Plan (BRAP) was introduced in 2014.

DPIIT spearheads the dynamic exercise of BRAP which aims to promote competitive federalism, incentivizing states and union territories to have the most conducive business regime. The objective of BRAP is the promotion of industry and internal trade.

Earlier this year, the DPIIT proposed the Uttar Poorva Transformative Industrialization Scheme, 2024 (UNNATI – 2024) for 10 years from the date of notification along with 8 years for committed liabilities at a total cost of Rs.10,037 crore. The scheme received cabinet approval in March.
