Guwahati: Assam is set to launch a single brand name for milk, similar to Gujarat's 'Floods' and Karnataka's 'Nandini', to ensure quality control and boost incentives for milk farmers.

The announcement was made by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on the eve of the second year of the BJP government in Assam.

Speaking to the media, Sarma revealed that the state government would pay an additional Rs. 5 over and above the market rates for every litre of milk sold to dairy cooperatives. This move is aimed at incentivizing milk farmers across the state and boosting milk production.

In addition, all milk produced in the state will be sold under a single brand name to ensure quality control. This will not only improve the quality of milk but also create a strong brand for Assam's dairy industry.

The idea for a single brand name for milk in Assam was taken from successful models like 'Floods' in Gujarat and 'Nandini' in Karnataka. These brands have not only achieved great success in their respective states but have also become household names across the country.

Assam's move towards a single brand name for milk is expected to provide a major boost to the state's dairy industry. The initiative will not only increase the income of milk farmers but also create job opportunities for people associated with the industry.

The state government's efforts to incentivize milk farmers and ensure quality control will not only benefit the dairy industry but also improve the health and nutrition of people in the state.
