Brisk Bihu business with festive offers and discounts

Guwahati: Bihu 2024 has been a busy season for sellers in Guwahati, with new offers, discounts, and schemes available.
 
Gamosas worth Rs.100-Rs.500 is available, along with discounts on Mekhala Chadar with a 50 percent discount, Bata shoes, EV cars, cash discounts, and exchange bonuses. 

Gamosa ( Assamese towel) which recently got a GI tag has always been an item to present during Bihus.  Ladies in Assam take pride in weaving or buying a new Mekhela Chador, It is a traditional dress worn by women of Assam. This dress has two pieces – Mekhela - Bottom Portion: draped from the waist downwards and a wide cylindrical piece of cloth.

Not only the usual traditional items, the new age vehicles, and gadgets also getting publicity with offers and discounts.

“The 2023 manufacture model offers a Rs.50,000 discount, while Tiago Ev and Altroz diesel vehicles receive discounts of Rs.35,000 and Rs.35,000” as told by Kamakhya Motors to Business North East.

Samsung showroom in Bhangagarh has not offered special deals this year, but Great Eastern Trading has some. 
 
Bihu is an emotional season for Assamese people, and sellers have made it an ideal time for celebration to woo customers. 

Shopping malls and street sellers are also offering new collections and schemes to embrace customers.

“We expect that we must get a market for the traditional poor artisans who work day and night for making dhol, khol, pepa, traditional Jewelries, clothes like gamosas, mekhela-saador, dokhona and others of Assam and provide a market for them. There should be rigorous publicity for these artisans market and people should be ready to buy their products. We expect that we promote Vocal for Local in a bing bang way” said Deepa Das, a resident of Guwahati to Business North East.
