BSNL to roll out 4G services soon

Guwahati: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is getting ready to roll out 4G services soon.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has been given the contract by BSNL to provide India with fourth-generation network connectivity for the next ten years.

Reports state that BSNL has already finished the 4G PoC with TCS and will shortly finalise the commercial deal.

BSNL floated the Expression of Interest (EOI) on 1st Jan, 2021 for the Proof of Concept (PoC). The PoC has been completed with few pending points. BSNL has issued the Purchase Order for 6,000 sites for 4G roll-out on 31 March 2022 and another purchase order of 6,000 sites on 25 July 2022. Thereafter, BSNL has floated the tender in October 2022 for its requirement of 1 lakh 4G sites.

The government also said that Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) 5G (fifth-generation technology ) will be introduced soon after 4G was introduced. In previous interviews, telecom minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that BSNL will offer 5G on August 15, 2023.

Users of BSNL can take advantage of promotions on the public operator's current broadband offerings in the interim.
