Dhunseri Ventures unveils polyester film plant in West Bengal, boosting economic prospects

Panagarh: In a significant diversification move, Dhunseri Ventures inaugurated its cutting-edge polyester film manufacturing unit, representing an investment of Rs 570 crores. Positioned as eastern India's pioneer in BOPET production, the facility boasts an impressive annual capacity of 52,000 tonnes, addressing the escalating demands of the packaging and industrial sectors.

Dhunseri Ventures Limited (DVL), originally incorporated as Dhunseri Tea Co. Ltd., initially focused on cultivating and producing tea in Assam. With 11 tea estates and 12 tea factories in Assam, along with two tea estates in Malawi, Africa, DVL has been a prominent player in the tea industry. Additionally, the company manages 8,000 hectares of tea and macadamia production.

The 38-acre polyester film plant, located in the Panagarh Industrial Park under the aegis of the West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC), was virtually inaugurated by West Bengal's Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee. Shares of Dhunseri Ventures experienced a marginal dip of 3%, closing at Rs 385.60 apiece on the BSE Sensex, which concluded 0.4% higher.

DVL, known for its trading of PET resin and treasury operations, collaborated with the esteemed German supplier, Bruckner Maschinenbau GmbH & Co. KG, underscoring its commitment to cutting-edge technology. Chandra Kumar Dhanuka, Executive Chairman and Managing Director of Dhunseri Ventures Ltd, affirmed that the plant would not only create direct and indirect employment opportunities for over 300 individuals but also make a substantial contribution to both the state and the nation's economy.

West Bengal's Chief Minister, while inaugurating the facility, emphasized the positive impact on employment generation and expressed optimism about the plant's pivotal role in fostering economic growth.

Dhunseri Poly Films' latest venture is poised to play a crucial role in meeting the burgeoning demands of the packaging and industrial sectors while bolstering the economic landscape of the region and the country at large.
