Guwahati: For the second consecutive day, the Indian equity market opened with a hefty loss as the domestic investor's sentiments was dampened by weak earnings results of several top-notch companies.
At 10 am, the Sensex was down 365.45 points or 0.66% at 55400.77, and the Nifty was down 110.50 points or 0.66% at 16520.50. About 1187 shares have advanced, 1531 shares declined, and 122 shares are unchanged.
The IT stocks dragged the index down as the first quarter results of several IT companies were not up to the market expectations.
