IIT-G signs MoU to foster cardiac research

Guwahati: The Indian Institute of Technology-Guwahati (IIT-G) has signed an MoU with Sri Sathya Sai Heart Hospital, Ahmedabad and Rajkot, run by Prashanti Medical Services and Research Foundation (PMSRF) to foster cardiac research and provide digital transformation, upgradation and information sharing.

The MoU was virtually signed between Prof. Parameswar K. Iyer, officiating director, IIT-G, and Manoj Bhimani, managing trustee, PMSRF, in the presence of Justice MR Shah, Judge of Supreme Court of India; Chief Justice of Guwahati High Court Sandeep Mehta and Prof. Dipankar Bandyopadhyay, Head, Jyoti and Bhupat Mehta School of Health Science and Technology, IIT-G.

The key highlights of the collaboration included working jointly to improve the digital healthcare ecosystem related to congenital heart ailments, setting up a high-end research and development centre at IIT-G in collaboration with the state government and working jointly on digital transformation, upgradation and share information for the benefit of cardiac patients in the North East.

Iyer said IIT-G is honored to partner with PMSRF for this “noble cause of providing a better healthcare facility to cardiac patients”.

He added that IIT-G will set up a multi-specialty connected hospital and it has already started working on the research and development and data collection part related to cardiac, cancer and paediatric care, among others.
He confirmed that IIT-G looks forward to adding value to the healthcare services.

Speaking about the ‘Dil without Bill’ initiative, Justice Shah said it is a unique concept and he is glad that “IIT Guwahati is now a part of this noble initiative”.

“The advancement of technology has brought the world closer particularly in the field of knowledge and information sharing. My best wishes for the collective efforts from all the stakeholders for this endeavour,” he added.
