IITG Successfully Concludes 8th Edition of Research and Industrial Conclave, Fostering Innovation & Collaboration

Guwahati: The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG) successfully concluded the eighth edition of its Research and Industrial Conclave in May 2023.

The three-day event provided a platform for students, innovators, entrepreneurs, industry experts, professionals, academicians, policymakers, investors, and exhibitors to come together and discuss innovative ideas and foster collaborations between academia and industry.

The conclave was inaugurated by Mr. Bhaskar Jyoti Phukan, the Managing Director of Numaligarh Refinery Limited. Several notable individuals were present at the event, including Dr. Pratul Chandra Kalita (Faculty Convenor), Prof. G. Krishnamurthy (Dean II&SI), Prof. Biman B. Mandal, Prof. Sukhomay Pal, Dr. Pankaj Kalita, Mr. Imran Hussain (Student Convener), Mr. Prangan Duarah (General Secretary, Students' Academic Board), Mr. Chetan Maroti Chinchulkar (Joint Secretary, Students' Academic Board), Ms. Kalpana Kumari (Student Co-convener), and Mr. Vanshaj Bhargava (Student Co-convener).

The focus of the conclave was on the latest advancements in various fields such as energy, environment, transportation, healthcare, social science, and agriculture, with an emphasis on sustainability. The event included design workshops, poster presentations, oral presentations, and a panel discussion on smart agriculture. There was also an interactive program with school children, highlighting the importance of research and innovation.

A notable highlight of the conclave was the launch of a heavy-lift disaster relief logistics drone by a company based in Odisha called BonV. Additionally, the event featured talks by esteemed speakers, including Padma Shri Professor Subhash Kak from Oklahoma State University, Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar awardee Dr. Binoy Kumar Saikia from CSIR-NEIST, Indian theoretical physicist Dr. Abhay Vasant Ashtekar from Pennsylvania State University, and Dr. Rubul Mont from Harvard Medical School, who is associated with IIT Guwahati.

Overall, the Research and Industrial Conclave at IIT Guwahati provided an excellent platform for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and showcasing of innovative ideas, products, and services across various sectors.
